Governed data as the foundation of every result.
Market data is assembled, versioned, and reused across experiments, so research and live trading rest on the same controlled, repeatable foundation.
A result is only as trustworthy as the data behind it. The Datasets layer treats data as a governed asset rather than an ad-hoc input: each dataset is assembled deliberately, its contents and provenance are explicit, and it can be versioned and reused so that experiments run on a stable, known foundation. When the inputs are controlled, the outputs can be trusted - and questioned - with confidence.
Provenance you can point to
Every dataset carries a clear account of what it contains and where it came from, so the inputs behind a result are as reviewable as the result itself. Ambiguity about which data produced this number - a frequent and corrosive source of doubt in research review - is designed out. When a figure is challenged, the data behind it is one reference away.
One source, research to live
The data source that feeds research is the same source the live system trades against. This closes a subtle but common gap: strategies that were validated on one data representation and then deployed against another, silently different, feed. Consistency across the environments is a precondition for live behavior that matches the backtest.
Versioned and reusable
Datasets are versioned, so a result generated today can be reproduced exactly at a later date against the identical inputs. They are also reusable across experiments, which keeps a research program comparable - different strategies evaluated on the same, controlled data rather than on inconsistent snapshots assembled by hand.
- Explicit contents and provenance for every dataset - no unattributed inputs.
- Versioning so a prior result can be reproduced against the exact data that produced it.
- Reuse across experiments, keeping a research program internally consistent and comparable.
Governance & controls
Controlled inputs are the precondition for trustworthy outputs.
Versioned, attributable datasets give an institution a defensible data lineage - the ability to answer “what data was this decision based on, and can we reproduce it?” without qualification.
